Jasper County Sheriff's Office Releases April Arrest Report

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office recently released its arrest report for April 2026, detailing various incidents and warrant services across the county, including in the county seat of Newton. The report includes arrests for probation violations, possession of methamphetamine, battery, and other charges. Statements made in the report are based upon probable cause, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Several Newton residents faced charges during April. On April 2, Graig A. Hollis, 51, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County Failure to Appear (FTA) Warrant for Probation Violation/Criminal Trespass to Residence. Later in the month, on April 8, Hope C. Boehm, 34, also of Newton, was arrested on a Body Attachment Warrant.

A significant incident occurred on April 10, when deputies responded to a call near E. 400th Ave. in Willow Hill. Ashton D. Reynolds, 22, of Newton, was arrested for battery. Two individuals from Oblong were also arrested in connection with this incident: Jeremy L. Babbs, 37, for battery and probation violation, and Jerry D. Stephens III, 25, for battery, aggravated battery to a peace officer, and resisting or obstructing arrest.

Warrant services continued throughout April. On April 28, Shawn W. Jayne, 44, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County FTA Warrant for Domestic Battery. The same day, Heather C. Kodat, 20, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County FTA Warrant for Consumption of Liquor by a Minor.

Another incident involving Newton residents took place on April 29. Gavin S. Fehrenbacher, 25, of Newton, was arrested for resisting a peace officer and criminal trespass to real property after deputies responded to a call near E. 500th Ave. in the rural outskirts of Newton. On April 26, Douglas L. Baker, 35, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County FTA Warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine < 5 Grams.

Other arrests in the county included Dartha J. Chagala-Munoz, 41, of Wheeler, arrested on April 6 for a Jasper County FTA Warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine. Macy R. Funnemann, 24, also of Wheeler, was arrested on April 15 for a Jasper County FTA Warrant for Burglary. Camron L. Elliott, 21, of Hidalgo, faced arrest on April 20 for a Jasper County FTA Warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine < 5 Grams.

Harley R. Thomas, 32, of Olney, was arrested on April 25 for a Jasper County FTA Warrant for Possession of Cannabis/Passenger. Jessica A. Dilley, 43, of Salem, was arrested on April 29 for a Jasper County FTA Warrant for Poss Con Sub Except A/D. The month concluded with the arrest of Brayden M. Bussell, 24, of Effingham, on April 30 for a Jasper County FTA Warrant for Unlawful Restraint.
