Take Heart in Art Event at Elliott Museum

Guest will enjoy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails as they explore the Elliott Museum as well as special displays from a select group of carefully curated artist. Inspired by aboriginal and Art Nouveau styles, each one of her paintings are adorned with metal leaf or gold ink, with intricate patterns and lines in white. Her work focuses on local and exotic wildlife, as well as colorful abstract pieces. </span> </p> </div> <div data-rss-type="text"> <h4> <span> Julia Kelly </span> </h4> <p> <span> As a fourth-generation impressionist, a member of The Oil Painters of America and The American Watercolor Society, Julia Kelly has been painting and exhibiting her work for over forty years. Capturing in vibrant colors and compositions, scenes from New England, The Amalfi Coast, Tuscany, The Caribbean, Alaska and Florida. She work in both large format oils and watercolors. </span> </p> </div> <div data-rss-type="text"> <h4> <span> <span> Dan Mackin </span> </span> </h4> <p> <span> Dan Mackin world-renowned artist famed for painting scenes from his exotic trips to the rainforests of South America, South Pacific, the Caribbean and Asia. From 1971 to 1973 he sailed a small boat to Central America during which he lost his camera overboard and started recording his travels by drawing and painting scenes. Dan Mackin has always had a fascination with tropical foliage and water. This, coupled with his great enjoyment creating art that led him into the art profession. In 1992 he began devoting his full attention to painting. </span> </p> <p> <span>   </span> </p> <p> <span> Mackin has collaborated with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys singing group and depicted eight of Wilson's songs on canvas. His prints and posters sell in more than 3,000 stores throughout the world. Mackin is one of 29 artists in the world to have a Disney License. </span> </p> </div> <div data-rss-type="text"> <h4> <span> <span> Jacquelyn Roesch - Sanchez </span> </span> </h4> <p> <span> Jacquelyn Roesch-Sanchez began her career in the arts as a Fiber Artist. Through a series of amazing opportunities and happy circumstances, she began to make wearable art using a knitting machine and multiple colors of viscose thread that she has collected for over 35 years. Roesch-Sanchez was fortunate to become one of the artists at Julie: Artisan Gallery on Madison Avenue and 67 </span> <sup> th </sup> <span> <span> Street, where her work was sold to celebrities such as Yoko Ono and Elizabeth Taylor. In 2015, Roesch-Sanchez retired to the Treasure Coast where she set up her studio once again, to make wearable art, inspired by the beautiful natural surrounds found in Florida.  </span> </span> </p> </div> <div data-rss-type="text"> <h4> <span> Dr. Phil Schein  </span> </h4> <p> <span> Dr. Philip Schein, a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs board, is a medical oncologist and pharmacologist, and has held major positions in the field of cancer research including the presidency of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and a White House appointment to the National Cancer Board. Most recently he has served as Chairman of the Board of the Center for the Advance of Science in Space, the organization that manages the US National Research Laboratory on the International Space Station.  </span> </p> <p> <br/> </p> <p> <span> Dr. Schein's interest in photography began in earnest when his young family was growing up in Bethesda, Maryland and expanded further when digital photography advanced in technology and quality. His compositional interests include abstraction, reflections and landscapes. He has studied with Bruce Barnbaum and Jack Dykinga, has won several photography contests and been featured in galleries in the Philadelphia region.  </span> </p> </div> <div data-rss-type="text"> <h4> <span> Don Wilks </span> </h4> <p> <span> To hone his art, years ago, Don Wilks studied with Peter Pacquette, who taught him the techniques of working with clay and metal, as well as welding, soldering and shaping rigid materials. He was privileged to come under the tutelage of Frank Eliscu. Eliscu was an internationally known sculptor who has many important municipal, commercial and private commissions to his credit, including the Heisman Trophy. Eliscu was his main mentor regarding techniques of movement and sculpture. Wilks also studied at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston, MA and is a member of the National Sculpture Society. </span> </p> </div>
