Why it matters locally: The confirmed livestream of Nidal Malik Hasan's execution is directly relevant to Texas given that the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, for which he was convicted, occurred at a military installation within the state.
WASHINGTON — The Pentagon announced that it will livestream the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, the former Army major convicted in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth previously stated the execution would occur publicly. Hasan faces execution by firing squad. A military court convicted Hasan of killing 13 people and injuring more than 30 others in the attack at Fort Hood, Texas. He received a death sentence in 2013.Related Topics
