The New Smyrna Beach City Commission will host its sixteenth regular meeting of the year at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Highlights on the agenda include:
Proposal to install a raised, ADA-compliant crosswalk at Saxon Drive & 8th Avenue to address resident concerns about speeding, cut-through traffic, and increasing pedestrian, bicycle, and golf cart activity
Collective bargaining agreements with the International Union of Police Association Local 6057 and International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2271 effective Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2029
Amending city building and inspection regulations to comply with Florida House Bill 803, which reduced plans review and building inspection fees local governments may charge and expanded the role of private providers
Annexing, changing the Future Land Use of, and rezoning 3.84 acres between Jungle Road and S.R. 44 purchased by City Hall for conservation; 2.25 acres by North Walker Drive and 1.59 acres by Linda Road
Reducing monthly solid waste fees from $27.35 to $25.43 per household as part of the city’s transition from Waste Pro to FCC Environmental Services on Oct. 1
Special event requests for Beachside Baptist Church’s Fall Festival on Oct. 30 and Canal Street Nights on Oct. 15, Nov. 19, Feb. 18, and March 18
All are invited to speak to the mayor and commissioners for up to three minutes each shortly after the meeting begins in the James W. Hathaway Commission Chambers at 214 Sams Ave.
