Piscataway Police Achieves Rare Third State Accreditation
The Piscataway Township Police Department earned state accreditation for the third time, joining just 12 percent of eligible New Jersey law enforcement agencies at that level.
Harry J. Delgado, accreditation program director for the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, presented the certificate to Deputy Chief Michelle Pilch at the May 2 Township Council meeting. While 54 percent of eligible departments statewide have earned accreditation once, only 32 percent reach a second accreditation.
The accreditation process examines department leadership, personnel development, records management, financial practices, arrest procedures, investigation protocols, weapons training and emergency response systems.
"This rare distinction of three accreditations is the result of a coordinated and substantial effort," Pilch said. "I thank all of our officers for their dedication."
Mayor Brian C. Wahler said the achievement reflects the department's professional standards. "Our diverse community continues to be well protected and served by the professional excellence of Piscataway's finest," he said.
