
Al Duffy Retires: 38 Years in Naples Fire Service
Al Duffy retired as a battalion chief after 38 years in the fire service, serving in both volunteer and paid capacities across Long Island and the Naples area.

Al Duffy concluded a 38-year fire service career in June 2019, retiring as a battalion chief. His career spanned volunteer service on Long Island, New York, and paid positions with three Naples-area fire departments.
Duffy began his career as a volunteer firefighter with the Hagerman Fire Department in Long Island in 1981. He moved to Naples in September 1985 and volunteered with both the East Naples Fire Department and the Marco Island Fire Department.
His volunteer work led to a paid firefighter position with the City of Naples Fire Department in June 1986. Duffy served with the city until July 1989, when he joined the North Naples Fire Department.
He spent the next three decades with North Naples, which became North Collier Fire Rescue in 2015. He continued with the department until his retirement.
Duffy's experience included roles as a firefighter and battalion chief. He holds an associate degree in Fire Science Technology and professional certifications including Florida State Emergency Medical Technician, Pump Operator, Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector II, and Fire Instructor II.
