Presley Gerber Death Investigated as Suspected Overdose in Santa Monica

Santa Monica, Calif. – Police are investigating the death of model Presley Gerber, 27, as a suspected overdose. Gerber, the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026.

The Los Angeles County medical examiner's office confirmed Gerber's death and stated the investigation is in its early stages. The Santa Monica Police Department reported Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, that no signs of foul play were present in Gerber's death.

A deputy medical examiner conducted an examination Monday. The cause and manner of death are deferred pending additional testing and studies. Officials noted such deferred cases can take several months to resolve.

Sources close to the case indicated Gerber checked into a rehabilitation center the day before his death. Staff found him unresponsive Sunday morning. The medical examiner's office pronounced Gerber dead at 9:45 a.m. Sunday.

Presley Gerber, whose sister is model and actress Kaia Gerber, began his modeling career at 15 with IMG Models. He walked runways for designers including Moschino and Dolce & Gabbana and appeared in campaigns for Calvin Klein and Celine. In recent years, Gerber spoke openly about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse. He discussed treatment following a 2019 DUI charge and hosted a video series called "Mental Health Mondays" in 2024.

A spokesperson for Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber stated Sunday, "The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time." Gerber's body is expected to be released to his family.
