12 Charged in Claiborne County Deputy Murder

Twelve individuals face first-degree murder charges in the fatal shooting of Claiborne County Deputy Terrian Bailey. Authorities announced the arrests Friday, Sept. 18, 2026. All 12 suspects also face charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit murder, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

Deputy Bailey responded to a large crowd at a convenience store in Hermanville shortly after midnight on Sept. 7 when shots were fired. He was struck by gunfire and died later at a hospital. A female bystander sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell stated the arrests reflect law enforcement's determination to pursue justice for Deputy Bailey, his family and the community. The suspects range in age from 18 to 26. The department has not released further details regarding the alleged shooters.

The arrests resulted from a multi-agency effort including the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service. Deputy Bailey served the Claiborne Sheriff's Office for six years and is survived by his wife and children.

Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods Sr. thanked investigators, agents, officers, deputies, dispatchers and citizens who provided information, videos, tips, prayers and support. The FBI had offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information related to the case.

The investigation remains ongoing.
