Myakka City residents should check their pantries for canned chicken Vienna-style sausage products under a public health alert issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The alert concerns “GRACE READY TO EAT CHICKEN VIENNA SAUSAGES” and “GRACE READY TO EAT CHICKEN VIENNA SAUSAGES HOT & SPICY” in 140-g cans. These products, illegally imported from Jamaica, bear the establishment number “EST. NO G-01” within the Jamaica mark of inspection.
The FSIS discovered the issue during routine surveillance of imported products. The importer distributed the sausages to retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, and Texas. While Myakka City is not explicitly listed, the alert is being shared statewide as a precaution.
The FSIS has reported no confirmed illnesses or injuries linked to these products. However, the agency urges consumers to dispose of them immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
