A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Hale County, specifically impacting Greensboro and Moundville. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, issued the warning today, October 9, at 4:20 PM CDT. Residents should move to safe shelter immediately as hazardous winds are expected.

Peak wind gusts of up to 50 mph are anticipated. These winds have the potential to cause limited damage, including to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect many large tree limbs to break and some trees to snap or uproot, leading to possible road impassability due to debris. Scattered power and communications outages are also possible. Remaining efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. The NWS forecasts an additional 1-3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, leading to potential moderate flooding. This could result in evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may swell, and small streams could overflow. Floodwaters may enter some structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life.

The Tropical Storm Warning is effective immediately and expires at 12:30 AM UTC on October 10. For more information, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
