A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Hale County, including Greensboro and Moundville, effective immediately. The National Weather Service in Birmingham, AL, issued the warning at 10:17 AM CDT on October 9, stating that tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours. This alert expires at 6:30 PM UTC on October 9.

Residents in affected areas should move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin. Peak wind gusts of up to 55 mph are possible, which could cause limited damage to property such as porches, carports, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect many large tree limbs to break, and some trees to snap or uproot, potentially making roads impassable. Scattered power and communication outages are also anticipated.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. This moderate flooding threat could lead to evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may quickly swell, and floodwaters could enter some structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings. Tornadoes are not expected at this time.
