Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Hale County: Act Immediately
Hale County, including Greensboro and Moundville, is under a Tropical Storm Warning with immediate action required due to severe winds and a high threat of major flooding from additional rainfall.
Hale County residents, especially those in Greensboro and Moundville, must prepare for severe weather as the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, has issued a Tropical Storm Warning, effective immediately.
The warning, issued October 9 at 6:57 PM CDT, indicates potential for hazardous winds between 39 and 57 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph. Residents should complete all property protection efforts immediately and move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Damage to unanchored structures, large tree limbs, and some power outages are possible.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 1-3 inches of rain expected, leading to potential major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Driving conditions will become dangerous with potential road closures.
Tornadoes are not expected at this time, but gusty winds and thunderstorms are possible. The warning remains in effect until October 10 at 3:00 AM UTC. For more information and safety resources, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
