HALE COUNTY, AL – A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Hale County, effective immediately from Thursday, October 9 at 6:57 AM CDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham, AL. This watch includes the communities of Greensboro and Moundville.

Residents should plan for hazardous winds, with peak forecasts of 15-25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. Potential impacts include damage to outdoor structures, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. All remaining efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible, and residents are advised to move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 2-4 inches of rainfall expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate flooding could prompt evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings, as failure to take action may result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and tributaries may swell, and localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible, making driving hazardous. Tornadoes are not expected at this time.

This Tropical Storm Watch is set to expire on Thursday, October 9 at 3:00 PM UTC. For more information and preparedness tips, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
