Blowing Dust Advisory for Moses Lake Area: Drive with Caution
A Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect for the Moses Lake area until 5 PM PDT today, with hazardous driving conditions expected due to reduced visibility and strong winds. A Freeze Watch is also issued for Monday evening through Tuesday morning.
Residents in the Moses Lake, Quincy, Othello, and Ephrata areas should prepare for reduced visibility due to a Blowing Dust Advisory, effective until 5 PM PDT today, October 11.
The National Weather Service Spokane has issued this advisory, warning of patchy to localized areas of blowing dust where visibility could drop to between one-quarter and one mile. Northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, are expected.
Hazardous driving conditions are anticipated. If you encounter blowing dust or sand on the roadway, or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn your lights completely off and keep your foot off the brake pedal. Remember the safety message: 'Pull Aside, Stay Alive'.
Additionally, a Freeze Watch is in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday morning, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29°F possible. Take immediate steps to protect tender plants from the cold. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be damaged.
