Freeze Watch Issued: Protect Plants and Plumbing Tonight
A Freeze Watch has been issued by NWS Pendleton for the Lower Columbia Basin and Foothills of the Blue Mountains in Oregon and Washington, effective Monday evening through Tuesday morning. Protect plants and outdoor plumbing from sub-freezing temperatures.
Residents in the Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon and Washington, North Central Oregon, and the Foothills of the Blue Mountains in both states should prepare for sub-freezing temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) Pendleton has issued a Freeze Watch effective from Monday evening, October 11, through Tuesday morning, October 13, at 9:00 AM PDT.
Temperatures as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit are possible. These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be damaged.
The NWS advises taking steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Cover or bring sensitive plants indoors. Consider insulating outdoor pipes if they are exposed.
