Chatham Borough Plants 50 Trees With $10K Grant

Staff Writer
June 11, 2026
Chatham Borough Gets $10,000 to Plant 50 Trees This Fall

Chatham Borough will plant 50 trees along streets and in public spaces this fall after receiving a $10,000 grant from the New Jersey Forest Service's Shade Tree Planting Program.

The grant covers the cost of purchasing, transporting, and planting trees. Borough officials will select planting locations in the coming months. The fall season offers optimal conditions for root establishment before winter.

Mayor Curt Ritter thanked the Forest Service for supporting the borough's environmental initiatives. Chatham has maintained an active tree planting program for several years.

Residents can contact borough hall for updates on planting locations and schedules.
