Strong Winds Expected Saturday from Isaias Remnants

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, KY, warning residents of strong wind gusts expected on Saturday, October 10th. The remnants of Hurricane Isaias are projected to bring southeasterly winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph across eastern Kentucky.
Isolated gusts reaching up to 40 mph are possible, particularly in exposed areas near Lake Cumberland. These strong winds are anticipated from late Saturday morning through the afternoon, coinciding with the initial bands of rain. Winds are expected to decrease once steady rainfall begins.
Residents in Fleming, Montgomery, Bath, Rowan, Estill, Powell, Menifee, Rockcastle, Jackson, Pulaski, Laurel, Wayne, McCreary, Whitley, Knox, Elliott, Morgan, Johnson, Wolfe, Magoffin, Floyd, Lee, Breathitt, Knott, Owsley, Perry, Clay, Leslie, and Martin counties should secure outdoor objects and decor. The NWS advises that unsecured items could be blown around by the gusty conditions.
