Emerald Isle Opens New Permanent Coast Guard Station

Emerald Isle completed construction of a 4,400-square-foot Coast Guard station this week, replacing the temporary structure that housed the federal agency's local operations.

The Coast Guard serves the Crystal Coast region, conducting search and rescue operations, enforcing maritime law, and providing aid to mariners. The town funded and built the facility to accommodate the station's needs.

Officials said the project represents Phase 1 of the overall Coast Guard Station Project but did not disclose details about subsequent phases.
