Severe Thunderstorm Warning: McCreary, Wayne Counties Until 9:15 PM EDT

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for southwestern McCreary County and southwestern Wayne County in south central Kentucky, effective immediately until 9:15 PM EDT tonight, September 21.

The National Weather Service in Jackson, KY, reports a severe thunderstorm was located over Slickford, approximately 11 miles south of Monticello, at 8:34 PM EDT, moving east at 15 mph. This storm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Residents can expect hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

The thunderstorm is anticipated to be near Slickford around 8:40 PM EDT and will also impact Parmleysville.

For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, which may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
