Fog Advisory: Reduced Visibility Expected Overnight in Local Counties

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by NWS Northern Indiana, warning of developing fog with rapidly changing, potentially near-zero visibility for motorists across multiple local counties until 2:00 AM EDT on October 12, 2026.

Staff Writer
10/11/2026 · Monticello edition

Motorists in Elkhart, LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, De Kalb, Starke, Pulaski, Marshall, Fulton, Whitley, Allen, White, Cass, Miami, Wabash, Huntington, Wells, Adams, Grant, Blackford, and Jay counties in Indiana, along with Northern La Porte, Eastern St. Joseph, Northern Kosciusko, Southern La Porte, Western St. Joseph, and Southern Kosciusko counties, should prepare for rapidly changing visibility due to fog development. This Special Weather Statement, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Northern Indiana, is effective immediately and expires at 2:00 AM EDT on October 12, 2026.

Clear skies and light winds will contribute to the formation of fog patches, potentially reducing visibility to near zero for brief periods. The NWS advises all drivers to increase following distance, slow down, and use low beam headlights when encountering fog.

The advisory also extends to Cass, St. Joseph, Branch, and Hillsdale counties in Michigan, and Williams, Fulton, Defiance, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, and Van Wert counties in Ohio.
