MONTGOMERY – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Montgomery by the National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham AL, effective immediately as of October 9 at 6:57 PM CDT. Residents are advised to shelter from dangerous wind now.
Peak winds of 40-50 mph with gusts up to 65 mph are forecast to continue until Saturday afternoon. Plan for dangerous wind of strong tropical storm force. Last-minute efforts to protect life and property should be complete.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. An additional 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, is expected, posing a potential for major flooding. Emergency plans should include the potential for extensive flooding, leading to likely evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to take action will likely result in serious injury or loss of life.
