A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Montgomery by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, effective immediately as of October 9 at 6:57 AM CDT. Residents must move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.

Peak wind gusts are forecast to reach up to 45 mph, with potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. This could lead to limited damage including unsecured objects being blown around, broken tree limbs, and some power outages. Remaining efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect for Montgomery, with 1-3 inches of rain expected and locally higher amounts. This presents a significant threat for moderate flooding. Emergency plans should include the potential for moderate flooding, as evacuations and rescues are possible. Heed any flood watches and warnings, as failure to take action may result in serious injury or loss of life.

The tornado threat remains low, with tornadoes not expected at this time. This warning is set to expire on October 9 at 3:00 PM UTC.
