A Heat Advisory is in effect for multiple Bay Area regions until 10 PM PDT this evening, October 8. The National Weather Service San Francisco CA warns of hot conditions with maximum temperatures ranging from the mid-90s to nearly 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
Affected areas include the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains, North Bay Interior Valleys, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose), Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, and Mountains of San Benito County and Interior Monterey County (including Pinnacles National Park).
This level of heat can impact individuals without effective cooling or adequate hydration, and may affect health systems, heat-sensitive industries, and infrastructure.
Residents are advised to hydrate regularly by drinking water and, if possible, provide water to vulnerable individuals. Take extra precautions when outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, and limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Seek immediate action if experiencing symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
