TEHRAN, Iran — Iran has addressed comments made by former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian officials stated the U.S. should "accept the reality of defeat and stop indulging in delusions."
President Trump previously suggested he would soon declare the Strait of Hormuz a "territory of the United States." NBC News correspondent Julie Tsirkin reported on the former president's comments.
The Strait of Hormuz serves as a critical maritime chokepoint. It connects the Persian Gulf with the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. A significant portion of the world's oil supply passes through this waterway.
