Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Crane, Pecos, Ward Counties Until 3:30 PM CDT
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Crane, Pecos, and Ward Counties until 3:30 PM CDT today, September 30, with hazards including 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail; residents should seek interior shelter immediately.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for portions of Crane, Pecos, and Ward Counties until 3:30 PM CDT today, September 30, 2026. Residents in north central Pecos County, eastern Ward County, and northwestern Crane County are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately.
The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa TX issued this warning at 2:47 PM CDT. At 2:46 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles northwest of Grandfalls, moving northeast at 20 mph. This storm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail.
Impacts are expected to include hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Areas affected include Monahans, Thorntonville, Grandfalls, Royalty, Roy Hurd Memorial Airport, and Monahans Sandhills State Park. Interstate 20 between mile markers 77 and 87 is also included in the warning area.
The warning remains in effect until 3:30 PM CDT. Take shelter now.
