A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Mobile Central, including Mobile, Prichard, and Theodore, effective immediately from the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile, AL, as of October 8 at 4:14 AM CDT. This warning indicates an extreme and immediate threat.

Life-threatening storm surge of greater than 6 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts should be completed now. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services.

Winds of 25-35 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected, but there is potential for life-threatening winds of 74 to 110 mph. Secure loose outdoor items and move to safe shelter. Extensive damage to roofs, mobile homes, trees, and power infrastructure is possible. Large areas of power and communications outages are likely.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, potentially causing major flooding. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and many structures could be impacted. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The NWS also notes a potential for a few tornadoes. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.
