URGENT: Life-Threatening Storm Surge Warning for Mobile Central
A life-threatening Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Mobile, Prichard, and Theodore, with immediate action required to shelter from potential inundation and hazardous winds.
A life-threatening Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Mobile Central, including Mobile, Prichard, and Theodore, effective immediately from the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. Residents are advised to shelter against life-threatening storm surge of greater than 3 feet above ground. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Remain sheltered in a safe location and do not venture outside.
The NWS forecasts peak storm surge inundation of 2-4 feet above ground in surge-prone areas through Saturday morning. Wind speeds of 25-35 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected, with potential for winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to property and scattered power outages are possible. Move to safe shelter before the wind becomes hazardous.
No significant additional rainfall or tornadoes are forecast. The Storm Surge Warning expires at 6:15 AM UTC on October 10, 2026.
