A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for the Mobile Coastal area, including Grand Bay, Dauphin Island, and Bayou La Batre, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, AL, issued the warning today, October 9, at 6:53 PM CDT, with the alert expiring at 3:00 AM UTC on October 10.

Residents in these areas should remain sheltered in a safe location. Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from surge flooding.

Tropical Storm force winds of 35-45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph are expected through the next few hours. Now is the time to shelter from hazardous wind; last-minute efforts to protect property should be complete. A Flood Watch is also in effect with potential for moderate flooding, meaning evacuations and rescues are possible in vulnerable areas. Heed any flood watches and warnings.
