MOBILE COASTAL RESIDENTS: IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED. A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Grand Bay, Dauphin Island, and Bayou La Batre by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective immediately as of October 8 at 4:14 AM CDT.

Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately. Evacuation efforts should be completed before driving conditions become unsafe.

Tropical Storm force winds (45-55 mph, gusts to 70 mph) are expected from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning. Potential for Category 1 or 2 hurricane force winds (74-110 mph) exists. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Extensive damage to roofs, mobile homes, trees, and widespread power/communications outages are anticipated.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected, leading to potential major flooding and evacuations. Isolated tornadoes are also possible. For evacuation and shelter information, contact Mobile County EMA at 251-460-8000 or visit mobilecountyema.gov. For storm impact graphics, visit www.weather.gov/mob. This warning expires October 8 at 12:15 PM UTC.
