Mobile Coastal County faces a High Rip Current Risk through Monday evening and a Coastal Flood Advisory from tonight until Saturday morning, with dangerous rip currents and minor coastal flooding expected.

Residents and visitors in Mobile Coastal County are advised to take immediate precautions due to a High Rip Current Risk and a Coastal Flood Advisory. The National Weather Service in Mobile, AL, issued these alerts today, October 2, at 12:17 PM CDT.

The High Rip Current Risk is in effect through Monday evening, October 5, and warns of dangerous rip currents capable of sweeping swimmers away from shore. Swimmers are urged to swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, individuals should relax and float, not swim against the current. If able, swim parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

A Coastal Flood Advisory is also in effect from midnight tonight, October 2, until 8 AM CDT Saturday, October 3. Minor coastal flooding is expected. This may result in the flooding of lots, parks, and roads, with isolated road closures possible. Around 2 feet MHHW, water begins to cover portions of Shell Belt and Coden Belt Roads, and roads may have debris. If travel is required during this period, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Property owners in flood-prone areas should take necessary actions to protect their property.
