Oyster Bay Town Seeks Counselors for Summer Camp Serving Children With Developmental Disabilities

Oyster Bay Town is hiring counselors for its GAP summer day camp program, which serves children and young adults ages 5 to 21 with developmental disabilities. The camp runs June 29 through August 7 at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa and Syosset-Woodbury Park in Woodbury.

Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Andrew Monteleone announced the openings this week. The program provides social and recreational experiences in a group setting.

The town seeks two types of positions. Activities Specialists must hold a bachelor's degree in special education plus 1,600 hours of experience with people with special needs, or a bachelor's degree in any subject plus 2,080 hours of such experience. Recreation Aides must be at least 16 years old.

Applicants can call the Handicapped Services Division at (516) 797-7947 to schedule an interview.
