Recruitment

Are you Ready to Answer the Call? The Berks County Department of Emergency Services is recruiting for the position of Telecommunicator - Call-Taker. A Telecommunicator - Call-Taker receives 911 and 10-digit calls from the public and accurately assigns their request(s) for police, fire, emergency medical, or other allied public safety resources to the appropriate dispatcher or agency. Additionally, the call-taker completes administrative work related to the job functions. This is an exciting career with competitive pay and excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a fixed benefit pension. After a few months of training, Telecommunicators are assigned to a platoon where they will work 12-hour shifts with a close-knit team of professionals.
