TANF is a monthly cash assistance program with work requirements that temporarily benefits pregnant women and low-income families with children under 18 or with children age 18 who attend school full-time. TANF also offers the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (GRG) program to enable grandparents to provide care for their grandchildren in their homes. To receive GRG, you must first be approved to receive TANF cash assistance for the grandchild. Gather What You’ll Need You may be requested to provide information about yourself and anyone in your household applying for benefits, including: Proof of Identity Date of Birth Social Security Number Citizenship or immigration status Employment status and proof of income (Examples: pay stubs, child support payments, or income award letters) Benefits history Information about available financial resources, including banking information, account numbers, vehicle information, or life insurance policies. Information about shelter and utility expenses If pregnant, the name and address of your baby’s father Criminal background, if any (Examples: probation, parole, felony conviction) See program eligibility information. Note: DHS will first attempt to verify citizenship/immigration status and income information through electronic data sources. Please let them know if they cannot verify through electronic data sources and if you need help getting this information. You only must provide Social Security Numbers (SSN) and citizenship or immigration status for persons who want to apply for benefits. DHS will use this information to check the income and eligibility verification system (IEVS). They will also match your information against other federal, state, and local agencies to verify your income and eligibility, track wage information, and track your participation in work activities. If a household member does not want to inform DHS about their SSN, citizenship, or immigration status, other household members may still receive benefits. Apply for TANF Apply Online You can apply for benefits or check and manage your status through Georgia Gateway. If you want to apply online but need internet access, all DFCS locations have computers in their lobbies. Visit the Georgia Gateway website. Create an account or log in with your existing information. Forgot Password Forgot User ID Fill out the required information and submit your benefits application. Apply By Mail You can mail your completed application to your local county DFCS office. Find your county DFCS office location by city, county, or zip code. Mail your completed application to that office. Some offices have separate mailing and physical addresses, so be sure to check the address. Interview with a Case Manager Anyone may submit a TANF application, but a DFCS case manager must interview the parent, caretaker, or pregnant individual. Once your application is filed, an appointment with a DFCS case manager will be scheduled. The appointment date and time will be sent to you by mail. If you already have a Georgia Gateway account, you can check your account to see if an appointment has been scheduled in the “My Notices” section of the Gateway website. Be ready to answer questions and have proof of your household's income, resources, rent or mortgage, and utility costs available. If you don't have what's asked for, let your case manager know. DFCS allows you to give that information to your local office up to 10 days after the interview. Cooperation with the Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) is required to receive TANF benefits unless good cause can be established. Receive a Decision Notification You will get a notification about the decision by mail. You can also check your benefits status by calling the DFCS Customer Contact Center at 877-423-4746. If you have a Gateway account, you can check your benefits status by logging into Georgia Gateway. If you forgot or misplaced your Gateway password or your Gateway user ID, please refer to the Gateway website for instructions:Forgot Password Forgot User ID If you are eligible for TANF, benefits will be provided from the date the application is approved. Your income, resources, and family size determine benefit amounts. Once DHS determines your eligibility, your caseworker can give you specific information about benefit amounts. You will get a Way2Go Debit Mastercard to access your TANF benefits. The card must be activated when it is received. If you do not receive a decision notification or a Way2Go Debit Mastercard, contact your DFCS case manager or contact Way2Go Debit Mastercard customer service at GoProgram.com or 1-800-656-1347. Next Steps If you believe the decision in your case is not fair, you can request a hearing to have your case reconsidered. The Georgia Dream Homeownership Program provides affordable mortgage financing for eligible homebuyers. The Georgia Dream Homeownership Program makes purchasing a home possible for eligible residents. Georgia Dream provides affordable financing options, down payment and closing cost assistance, and homebuyer education. Active military members, public protectors, educators, healthcare providers, and residents with family members living with a disability qualify for special down payment loan options. Determine if You’re Eligible To qualify for the Georgia Dream Homeownership Program, you must: Be a first-time homebuyer, have not owned a home in the past three years, or be purchasing a home in certain areas of Georgia. Not have a household income that exceeds the maximum household income (visit the Georgia Department of Community Affairs website for income limits). Have liquid assets of no more than $20,000 or 20% of the sales price (whichever is greater). Meet mortgage loan credit requirements. Be purchasing a home with a sales price that does not exceed the limit (varies by county). Visit the Georgia Department of Community Affairs website for more eligibility details. Gather What You’ll Need Qualifying for a mortgage through the Georgia Dream program requires certain documentation. Please work closely with your lender to collect and fill out all the required forms and paperwork. Required documents include: Most recent 3 consecutive years IRS transcripts Most recent signed complete personal tax returns A copy of lender’s Delegated Underwriter’s Transmittal signed 92900LT form with comments stating his/her review of the application Credit report Fraud report A signed Application Affidavit form (required by Georgia Dream) Signed letter of explanation addressing all prior addresses and no prior homeownership or a copy of the no-record results to the IRS request for the prior 3 years 1098 transcripts A minimum of $1,000 to put toward your home purchase Get Qualified Contact a Georgia Dream Participating Lender to pre-qualify and begin the mortgage loan process. Next Steps Once you are pre-qualified, you can begin your home search process. Homebuyer counseling is required for all Georgia Dream loans. Track My Tax Refund

You can check the status of your tax refund online or by phone. You get a tax refund when you pay more income taxes than you owe. After you file your state income tax return, you can track the status of your tax refund online or by phone with the Georgia Department of Revenue. Tax refund processing times vary and depend on the accuracy of the original return, but you'll get your refund more quickly if you file your tax return electronically. Most refunds are issued within 21 days of the return being received. However, the process may take up to 90 days. If your tax refund issue involves a deceased taxpayer, a lost, stolen, or stale-dated check, or a changed name, contact the Department of Revenue for assistance. Related: Taxes and Refunds Gather What You'll Need In order to check the status of your tax refund, you’ll need information from your most recently filed income tax return: Social Security number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) Exact dollar amount of your tax refund Track Your Tax Refund You can check the status of your tax refund online or by phone. Track Your Tax Refund Online You can use the DOR Georgia Tax Center online portal to check the status of your tax return. Follow the prompts to check your tax refund status. You do not need an account to check your refund status online. You can create or log in to your Georgia Tax Center online account to sign up for electronic notifications if you’d like to be notified when your return is filed and when your refund is issued. By Phone Call the DOR automated telephone line at 877-423-6711 to check the status of your tax refund. Press option 2 (“Individual Income Tax Information”), then option 2 to inquire about the status of your refund. Follow the prompts to check your tax refund status. Next Steps Your tax refund will be either electronically deposited into your bank account or mailed to you as a paper check. Most tax filers should expect to receive their refund electronically deposited into their bank account, unless otherwise noted on their returns.
