Midvale Declares April Child Abuse Prevention Month

Staff Writer
June 12, 2026

Midvale City officials proclaimed April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month on April 7, recognizing the need for community action to protect children and support families.

Mayor Dustin Gettel and the Midvale City Council adopted the proclamation, which calls on educators, healthcare providers, law enforcement, community organizations, and families to work together. The proclamation notes that childhood trauma can cause long-term emotional, physical, and psychological harm.

Strong family relationships, community support, and access to services reduce risk and promote healthy child development, according to the proclamation.

Residents can contact Prevent Child Abuse Utah or the Utah Department of Human Services Child and Family Services for resources. The Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Line operates at 855-323-3237. The Family Support and Treatment Center provides therapy and prevention programs at 801-229-1181.
