Independent Living – Council on Aging (COA) INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES Research conclusively shows that most seniors prefer to age in place in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. COA can help! COA Independent Living Services offer access to home and community-based programs and services provided through contracts with a variety of federal, state, county, and local entities. These subsidized programs facilitate at-home, independent living for older adults (60+ for most programs) and are designed to offer cost savings for those who need support. Services may include Meals on Wheels, personal care, help with household tasks and errands, respite for caregivers, emergency alert systems, and mental health counseling. The services are contingent upon availability and eligibility. We are happy to tell you more about these subsidized services and how to access them. If so, please call Council on Aging to learn how you may be able to receive free or reduced-cost medication offered by the pharmaceutical companies. If you are eligible, we will help you navigate the application process. The Prescription Assistance Program has been helping St. Johns County seniors since 2003.
