Dense Fog Expected Overnight: Drive with Caution

A Special Weather Statement warns of dense fog tonight across eastern Indiana, western Ohio, and northern Kentucky, urging motorists to drive with caution due to reduced visibility.

Motorists across eastern Indiana, western Ohio, and northern Kentucky should prepare for rapidly changing visibility tonight due to developing dense fog. The National Weather Service in Wilmington, OH has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately until 12:00 AM UTC on October 12, 2026.

As low clouds clear this evening and overnight, conditions will become favorable for fog formation. Some areas, particularly in eastern Indiana and western Ohio, may experience dense fog reducing visibility to one-quarter mile or less. Further east into Ohio and south into northern Kentucky, visibility could worsen through daybreak.

Affected counties include: Wayne, Fayette, Union, Franklin, Ripley, Dearborn, Ohio, Switzerland, Carroll, Gallatin, Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Owen, Grant, Pendleton, Bracken, Robertson, Mason, Hardin, Mercer, Auglaize, Darke, Shelby, Logan, Miami, Champaign, Clark, Preble, Montgomery, Greene, Butler, Warren, Clinton, Hamilton, Clermont, and Brown.

Drivers are advised to allow for greater distances between vehicles, use low beam headlights, and allow extra time to reach their destinations. Be prepared for sudden reductions in visibility.
