M-DCPS Voters to Consider Renewing 'Secure Our Future' Education Referendum in November 2026

Miami Gardens residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on the future of local education funding this November. Voters within the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) district will consider renewing the Secure Our Future Referendum for an additional four years on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

If approved, the referendum would continue to provide crucial support for teacher and instructional personnel salary supplements, directly impacting educators in our community. Funds from the referendum would also bolster school safety and security improvements across M-DCPS schools.

Superintendent Villalobos will host nine Town Hall meetings to discuss the referendum renewal and engage with community members. These meetings offer a chance for residents to learn more about the proposal and ask questions directly. Each Town Hall will feature a community resource fair from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, followed by the main meeting from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

The Secure Our Future Referendum first passed to ensure competitive salaries for teachers and staff, and to enhance security measures in schools. Its renewal aims to maintain these vital programs without interruption.
