Aldi announced this week it is lowering prices on approximately one-third of its product offerings nationwide. The company estimates these price reductions will save shoppers an estimated $85 million.
The price cuts, effective Sept. 23 and lasting until at least Nov. 3, include grapes, pears, Brussels sprouts, squash, herbs and potatoes. Kirkwood chicken breast family packs will sell for $1.99 per pound. Discounts also apply to coffee, paper towels and protein shakes. These savings arrive as families prepare back-to-school meals and community gatherings across Miami Gardens.
Aldi's price reductions follow similar moves by competitors. Kroger and Walmart have also implemented price cuts to attract customers. Walmart announced lower prices on fresh corn, cherries, potato chips and Coca-Cola earlier this summer. Kroger reduced prices in some regions earlier this year.
The grocery industry faces persistent food cost increases. Groceries were 2.2% higher on average year-over-year last month, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Aldi's adjustments aim to provide relief to consumers facing these increased expenses.
