The Marlins had previously narrowed the Padres' lead to one run in the top of the seventh, scoring three runs to make it 4-3 before San Diego pulled away.
Jake Cronenworth led the Padres' offense, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, and a strikeout. Pitcher Walker Buehler earned the win, pitching 6.2 innings, allowing three earned runs, striking out six, and walking two. For the Marlins, Javier Sanoja contributed a home run, three RBI, and one run scored, going 1-for-3. Sandy Alcantara was charged with the loss for Miami.
