Homestead residents and businesses will pay adjusted monthly wastewater charges beginning Oct. 1, 2026, as the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (FKAA) implements new rates, fees and charges. The changes affect single-family homes, other service classes based on meter size and users of alternative water supplies.
Single-family residential customers will see a base facility charge of $43.32 per month. They will also pay a wastewater flow collection charge of $16.40 per thousand gallons, applied to metered water consumption up to 10,000 gallons monthly.
Businesses and other non-residential customers will face tiered monthly rates based on water meter size, from $43.32 for a 5/8” x ¾” meter to $4,454.58 for an 8” meter. The wastewater flow collection charge for these customers remains $16.40 per thousand gallons, applied to all metered water consumption.
Customers using alternative water supplies will pay $130.24 monthly, which includes the base charge and an allowance for 5,300 gallons of wastewater flow. Eligible seniors can receive a reduced rate of $86.93.
Additional updated FKAA fees include annual industrial wastewater discharge permits at $80.00. New facilities connecting to the central wastewater system will pay a $636.00 review fee. Industrial discharges not meeting compliance standards will incur a $0.17 per gallon per month surcharge. Connection charges for low-pressure systems are $8,137.00, and for gravity systems, they are $9,918.00.
System development charges for new residential multi-unit properties are $8,551.00 per unit for three units or less. Common area facilities and multi-unit accounts will be charged $227.00 per fixture value.
The FKAA adopted these updated rates and fees in October 2026. Residents and businesses can find detailed rate schedules on the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority website.
