Riverside County Auditor-Controller Ben J. Benoit Announces Public Member Applications to Open for New Audit Committee ymachado June 9, 2026 (Riverside, CA) – Ben J. Benoit, Riverside County Auditor-Controller, announced that applications for qualified members of the public interested in serving on the newly established County of Riverside Audit Committee opened June 1 and will close July 1.The Riverside County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 2026-028 on February 10, 2026, establishing the County of Riverside Audit Committee and approving its bylaws. The committee is intended to support transparency, accountability, and performance across County operations by providing independent oversight and objective advice to the Board of Supervisors on the effectiveness of the County’s governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks. The Audit Committee consists of nine members, including the County Auditor-Controller, a member of the Auditor-Controller’s Office, two members of the Board of Supervisors, the County Executive Officer or designee, two public members, County Counsel as a non-voting member, and the Clerk of the Board as a non-voting member.“The Audit Committee provides a formal process to support oversight, transparency, and accountability in Riverside County government,” said Benoit. “Qualified residents and business owners with experience in accounting, auditing, or financial management are encouraged to review the application materials when the application period opens.” The Auditor-Controller’s Office is seeking applicants for two public member seats on the committee. Public members must reside in or operate a business in Riverside County and have expertise in accounting, auditing, or financial management. Candidates will be reviewed by the Auditor-Controller to verify qualifications. Those candidates identified with the required qualifications will be recommended to the Board of Supervisors for appointment.The Audit Committee will meet at least quarterly, with additional meetings held as necessary. Public members will serve staggered two-year terms, renewable once, unless otherwise directed by the Board. To establish the initial Audit Committee, one public member will serve a three-year term.The public application period opened June 1, 2026, and will close July 1, 2026.
