Residents in Western, Central, and South Central Siskiyou County, Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, and Jackson County must take immediate action to protect sensitive vegetation. A Freeze Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Medford, Oregon, effective until 9:00 AM PDT on Monday, October 12.

Sub-freezing temperatures are expected. Oregon areas could see lows of 27 degrees, while northern California areas, specifically the valleys of western and central Siskiyou County, including the Shasta Valley, Scott Valley, and portions of the lower Klamath River Valley, potentially including Mount Shasta City and areas to its east, could experience temperatures as low as 23 degrees. The NWS advises that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive plants.

The current warning is active until 8 AM PDT this morning, with a second Freeze Warning in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM PDT Monday, October 12. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. For detailed hazard area information, visit the NWS at https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/map/?wfo=mfr.
