WASHINGTON – Afghan nationals who supported American troops during the conflict in Afghanistan have voiced concerns about their immigration status in the United States. Many arrived in the U.S. after the 2021 withdrawal of American forces, and some now fear they may face deportation.
Following the U.S. departure from Afghanistan five years ago, thousands of Afghans who had collaborated with American military personnel resettled in the United States. These individuals embarked on new lives in the country.
However, some of these Afghan nationals have expressed apprehension that the U.S. government might seek to return them to Afghanistan. This concern centers on the possibility of losing their green cards, which permit permanent residency in the United States.
