Two motorcyclists arrested after fleeing Brandon traffic stop

Two motorcyclists were arrested June 13 after fleeing a traffic stop in Brandon and leading deputies on a chase that ended when a train blocked one suspect's path.

Christopher Cruzcolon, 30, and Megan Lynne Bateman, 35, both attempted to evade law enforcement after the initial stop. Deputies tracked them using the Aviation Unit while ground units pursued on the ground.

Cruzcolon abandoned his motorcycle and ran through a storage facility before deputies apprehended him. Bateman continued fleeing until a train crossed the railroad tracks ahead of her. She ran along the tracks before falling into bushes, where deputies arrested her.

Both suspects face charges related to fleeing law enforcement. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office did not disclose the reason for the original traffic stop or whether additional charges are pending.
