Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Take Immediate Shelter in McPherson, KS

McPherson, KS – Residents in McPherson, Galva, and the McPherson Airport area, including those on Interstate 135 between Mile Markers 59 and 72, are advised to seek immediate shelter. The National Weather Service in Wichita, KS, has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning effective until 8:00 PM CDT tonight, September 19.

At 7:19 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over McPherson, moving northeast at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing two-inch hail and 60 mph wind gusts, according to trained weather spotters. The NWS warns that people and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees is also anticipated.
