Dense Fog Possible Across Multiple Counties, Drivers Urged to Use Caution

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for multiple counties, warning of possible dense fog and reduced visibility; drivers should use caution and allow extra travel time until 5:00 AM EDT today.

Drivers in Mason, Hardin, Mercer, Auglaize, Darke, Shelby, Logan, Miami, Champaign, Clark, Montgomery, Greene, Warren, Clinton, and Brown counties should prepare for possible dense fog and reduced visibility this morning.

A Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington, OH, at 2:12 AM EDT, October 12, warns that as low clouds dissipate overnight, conditions are becoming favorable for dense fog development. Visibility could be reduced to a quarter mile or less in affected areas.

The NWS advises motorists to be prepared for rapid changes in visibility. Essential safety actions include allowing for greater distances between vehicles, utilizing low beam headlights, and allocating extra travel time to reach your destination safely. This statement is effective immediately and is set to expire at 5:00 AM EDT today, October 12, 2026.
