A Wind Advisory is in effect for multiple counties in NC, VA, and WV from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, with gusts up to 60 mph possible, according to the NWS.

A Wind Advisory has been issued for Ashe and Watauga Counties in North Carolina; Grayson, Smyth, and Tazewell Counties in Virginia; and Mercer, Summers, and Western Greenbrier Counties in West Virginia. Residents in these areas should prepare for strong winds.

The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service Blacksburg VA, is effective from Saturday, October 10, at 5 PM EDT, until Sunday, October 11, at 11 AM EDT. East winds are expected to be between 15 to 25 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 45 to 50 mph. Isolated gusts up to 60 mph are possible along ridge lines above 3500 feet.

These strong winds could blow around unsecured outdoor objects. Tree limbs may be blown down, and a few power outages could result, particularly in higher terrain locations. The winds are attributed to the remnants of Hurricane Isaias.

The National Weather Service advises using extra caution, especially when driving high-profile vehicles, as strong winds can make driving difficult. Secure all outdoor objects to prevent them from being moved by the wind.
