Schedule An Appointment
This is the USPS passport appointment scheduling system accessible at https://tools.usps.com/rcas.htm.
Step 1: Choose a Service
Users must select from the following service types:
- New Passport Only
- New Passport with Photo Services
- Passport Renewal
- Digital Photo Services Only
- Hard Copy Photo Services Only
Users also specify the number of adults and minors (under 16 years old) for whom they are scheduling appointments, with options ranging from 0 to 6 for each category.
Step 2: Search by Location or Date
Users can search for appointments by location or date. The system uses a location search feature that allows users to enter a city and state or ZIP code with radius options (1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, 60, 80, or 100 miles). Users can search for appointments up to 4 weeks from the current date.
Step 3: Select a Time
Appointment times are displayed for available slots. Each appointment takes approximately 15 minutes per person, and users are requested to arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled time. Appointment times reflect the proper time zone of the Passport Acceptance Facility.
Step 4: Provide Contact Information
Users must provide identity verification by supplying:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Phone Number
- Email Address
Users select a verification method (text message or email) to receive a verification code. A note states that telecommunications carriers may charge data usage fees for text message updates.
Final Step: Review and Confirm
Users review all appointment details including service type, contact information, post office location, date, and time. The system displays estimated USPS charges. Users must agree to the Terms and Conditions before confirming the appointment. After confirmation, users receive a final confirmation number.
Important Alerts:
- Users must complete and print their passport application form before applying at https://pptform.state.gov
- Passport Renewal appointments cannot be made online; eligible users must renew by mail or online through the State Department
- USPS offers digital photo services that comply with US Department of State regulations
- Appointments are not available on holidays
- Walk-in passport services are available at some locations
