Wellwood Student Earns Perfect Score on National Latin Exam
Juliet DePaulis, an eighth-grader at Wellwood Middle School, scored perfectly on the 2026 National Latin Exam. More than 80 Fayetteville-Manlius students earned awards on the test, which the American Classical League and National Junior Classical League sponsor annually.
The 45-minute exam tests students across eight levels using multiple-choice questions covering Latin grammar, vocabulary, mythology, and Roman culture. More than 100,000 students in all 50 states and 26 countries took the exam this year.
At F-M High School, 40 students received awards: nine gold medals, eight silver medals, 10 magna cum laude designations, and 13 cum laude designations.
Eagle Hill and Wellwood middle school students earned 42 awards as first and second-year Latin students, bringing home 17 gold medals, 10 silver medals, nine magna cum laude designations, and six cum laude designations.
The exam awards students based on their individual performance against the national average for each level, not against other test-takers.
