F-M Music Teacher Published in State Jazz Journal

John Jeanneret, instrumental music teacher at Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District, published an article in the New York State School Music Association's School Music News journal.

The article, "Unleashing Creative Musicians: Why Every Student Should Improvise in Jazz Band," argues that improvisation builds musicianship, confidence and listening skills. Jeanneret contends that teaching students to improvise develops music literacy, aural skills and creativity while supporting equity in jazz education.

He concludes that improvisation keeps jazz alive as an art form, turning students from performers into lifelong creators.
